Alaçatı is a neighborhood in the Çeşme district of İzmir. It has a coast on the Aegean Sea. It is famous for its historical stone houses and beaches suitable for windsurfing as it gets winds 360 days a year. It has developed a lot in recent years thanks to its stone houses.

According to 2000 figures, its population is 8,401 people. Hosting many entertainment venues and hotels on an area of 704 square kilometers, Alaçatı is one of the important holiday resorts of the Aegean Region.

The ancient name of Alaçatı is Agrillia. Alaçatı takes its name from an Ottoman tribe called 'Alacaat'. During the Ottoman period, Greeks and Turks lived in Alaçatı. Since the word 'Alacaat' is difficult to pronounce in Greek, 'Alacaat' changes over time and takes the name Alaçatı, which is used today.

The festival, which has been organized since 2010, aims to introduce herbs with dishes made from herbs grown in the region. The festival is held in the spring.
